I have an OMC 2.3L inboard Ford engine. Turns over and no start. New plugs, points .019, condenser, rotor, cap coil, and battery. Tested the interrupt switch and overstroke switches with meter, both good. I have no power at the distributor. I jump from coil neg. side to distributor and I get spark at #1 plug. Still no start. Almost but not there yet. Could the ESA be the problem? Or someone said the tachometer can cause it too. Any suggestions? I have the schematics. Only things I have not checked is the ESA and the Tach. HELP!

I have no power at the distributor.

Ayuh,...... Welcome Aboard,...... Do you have power at the coil's (+) tiny terminal,..??..??

The coil's (-) terminal feeds to the points in the distributor,.....

Try readin' This, 'n This,...... Both found in Don's Adults Only Section,......

2.3 Ford engine has a timing belt. Be sure that the belt has not jumped some teeth. Basically it is a Pinto/ Thunderbird engine and you should not have any trouble finding a service manual to help checking Or replacing the belt.
