I have a 1985 OMC 2.5 IB/OB . It ran great last year. Now it will not start. I've replaced the plugs , wires , cap , rotor , starter. I checked the firing order ( 1,3,4,2 ) and all looks good. I am getting fuel and I am getting spark to the plugs. It cranks strong but will not start. Is there any relay/cutoff switch, fuse that may cause the engine not to start. Does the height of the outdrive position matter ?
Thanks , Don

Have you checked compression, with fuel and spark it should start. Wonder if your shift interrupter may be defective. That is the little box that cuts the spark intermittently when you shift to slow the motor down a little.

Check the gas to make sure it does not have water in it, also check the water seperator if you have one. Spray some starting fluid in the carb then try to start. If it starts then you have a fuel problem.

Did you check to make sure you have spark now? or just assume it has spark now because it had it before all the work.

Put the drive down when running, no switch, but do NOT run them tilted up.
