Re: OMC 2hp reliability
Well i had a brand new evinrude 2hp back in the late 1970's, it looked pretty cute and very neat little engine
easy to start nice and quiet etc.
But it was about the worse engine ive ever owned.
I got this to replace a noisey smelly old british seagull engine.
the evinrude 2hp couldnt touch the seagull in any way at all, the reliabilty of the rude was terrible and performance was even worse.
i would never bother owning another one as ive seen a few that are exactly the same for reliabilty.
the only good points about them were they are pretty clean, neat and very quiet compared to my seagull.
I sold the 2hp evinrude after just 3 months of daily trouble and bought my seagull back out of hiding.
Ive still got the seagull today and will put that up against eny engine in the world for reliabilty, even after dunking it about 50 times
in water it still starts straight up and just keeps going.
it did have a 8 year rest period at one time and started on the 3rd pull.
personaly if you want a small engine thats reliable then go for the 4hp johnson or evinrude, they were great motors to own and
very reliable.
nothing like the little baby rudes.
maybe i was unlucky, but realy wouldnt want another one.
just my opinion
