Hey guys looking for some help on a 1987 OMC 3 liter 4cylinder. I just bought the boat and have a ?. I bought the boat knowing that the block had been damaged during a freeze this winter. The owner showed me where the block had a crackon the manifold side just under the head about 2 inches below. I thought that was the only one. There is no water in the oil at all just ran it for about ten minutes hooked to a hose and no water in the oil.It ran at about 175degrees. BUT while running the motor the motor looked to be draing water out the back. Where the flywheel would be on a car. Came out both sides at about the height where the starter bolts on.I had the hose on full blast which is alot of pressure. Do you think the block i cracked out back? Is that common? I got the boat with a nice trailer and title for 150.00 so not in it alot of money but would like to keep it that way. I was going to repair/quick fix the one crack with JB weld:D but now not sure. What is a fair price on a used 3 liter? I know lots of ? so thank you very much for any Help

Re: omc 3.0 leaking water

There's a couple of Coreplugs in behind the Flywheel,......

Atleast 1 of your's has Popped Out.......

If it's Not putting water into the Oil,...... It's Still Fixable,+ Runable.......
But,.....
Ya gotta Pull the motor to do it.......

it does sound like you plug in the back went south, I had the same problem with a boat I purchased for a cheap price, it was a v8, but I pulled the motor to replace the plug, and jbwelded the crack, and it held for 4yrs before it started to leak, good luck
