omc, 3.8l fuel pump

good day,
can anyone tell me what i can replace the original fuel pump on my 3.8l omc with?
it is a mechanical pump. can i replace it with a car one?

you need to replace it with a marine mechanical pump.

^^ is the OMC number and OEM part is avail from any Evinrude dealer.
