Hello, I have a 1985 Rinker with an OMC 3.8L V6 engine. At the end of the season last year my ball gear in between the sterndrive and the driveshaft stripped out and I have replaced it this year. I did the replacing myself but now that I have got the boat out for the season it will not start. I plugged the battery back in and it has been checked and is a perfectlty working battery. I go to start the engine and it just clicks. It started to turn over the first couple times I tried but never got any gas up into the carburetar and now it is only clicking. Also the trim is not working either. It is a stringer with the 1/4 gear on the port side of the sterndrive. I have taken out the three bolts that hold the outdrive to the gear and lowered it by hand to hook up the muffler and water to start the engine but am now left with these two issues, any replies will be helpful thank you.

sounds like you need to clean all of your battery cable connections - especially the ground to the block and the positive connection at the starter
