Hi new here, rebuilding an old 1971 slickcraft and have a question.

Omc Marine power
model:p350S
serial:12235

I have a omc marine power 350 paired to an outdated omc stringer outdrive with the 12 screw hole boot. The outdrive needs all new seals, and boot. I'm replacing the stringers in the boat and going to rebuild the transom while I have the stringers out to accept a merc outdrive which is about 2in to 2.5in transom. It just seemed logical since merc outdrives have more parts abundant than omc.

My question is can I pair a merc outdrive to the omc engine, I'm figuring you need everything from back of engine to outdrive plus exhaust manifolds. Any help would be appreciated. And is there a certain merc outdrive/type/or year?

Nope,..... Only the Long Block is common 'tween 'em,.....

I suggest ya buy a Donor boat with the driveline ya want, 'n swap everything from the pulleys to the prop,.....
Then sell off all yer OMC stuff,.....

Filling in the big hole in the transom and making it strong enough to take the thrust of the Merc I/O does require some ingenuity

Redoing the stringers and bracing them, while they are out, changing transom to the required thickness for merc outdrives and there a few good guides out there to glass pack and fill the old omc hole
