OMC 350 v8 no power under load

I have a 1979 Carver and in neutral the engine purrs like a baby but under load and trying to give it some power it bogs down and stalls. I drained the gas and it seemed to work better and then the next time I took it out it returned to the same problem.
Please advice.

What did the fuel pick up screen look like?

changed water sep. filter? Hook up an external fuel tank and see if the problem still exists.

Marc, with the somewhat vague history and description of the problem it is tough to tell if it is an ignition problem or a fuel (carb) problem. When did the problem begin? Had it been sitting for a long period of time since the last start before this occured? How many hours and what type of engine? When was the last time a tune-up was performed, etc... There are alot of very good troubleshooters on this forum, but the more informaiton you provide the more responses you will recieve.

That alone tells Me that you have a Fuel Delivery Issue.......
What the motor does in Neutral is Irrevelant,..... It'll Rev to the Moon with No Load..... 'cause there's Little or No demand for Fuel......

On your Other thread Hoe-Meduck has lain out a path to Find the Issue........
As stated There,...... It Could be Anywhere, from the Tank to the Carb.......
But you DO have a Restriction Somewhere.......

Had a similar problem on mine, turned out to be the antisiphon valve on the gas tank...

Are the plug wires original on her?
