OMC 400 water pump question

I am getting ready to put in a new water pump in my omc 400 out drive
i have no leaks no were all the oil is clean no water in the oil
so i got a water pump kit and a new ball gear kit
and i was wondering how big of a job this
but my question is should i get a upper gear case seal kit????
all the out drive is apart as i have just rebuilt the engine and now im looking
at the out drive parts now!!! trying to think what to do at this point
so is there any advice at this point

If your in to deep!! it is best to do it right the first time!!!!

since you have nearly everything apart, I would at least put seals in the upper. wouldnt hurt on the lower either.

also, check the spline quality between the shafts. That is a common issue.

im just kind of wondering at this point as how old this unit is just what kind of worms i will get when opening this unit up
a kind or fear factor this is stuck in mt throught

in truth how big of a job or best yet how nasty can a complete reseal of the lower unit get??
how hard is it and do i need to get any special tools??

you will need a large snap ring pliers to pull out the lower bearing carrier. I picked up a blue point for about $70. if your re-doing bearings, a dial indicator helps. other than that normal tools.
