OMC 5.0 HO Distributor to Plug Diagram

Pulled the distributor on my 5.0 HO and only have firing order in my engine service manual. I have seen conflicting diagrams on the Internet. I need to know where the #1 plug wire connects to the distributer. Should be able to get the rest from there, thanks. :redface:

Remove #1 Spark plug. I stick the hose from my compression tester in the plug hole and hold my thumb over the end of the hose, or you can put your finger over the plug hole. With a remote starter, bump the engine over till you start feeling compression building on #1, then continue bumping the starter over till the 0? timing mark is close to the pointer. Then pull the distributor cap and look at the rotor. It is pointing to #1 TDC in the firing position. That's were #1 plug wire goes.

Thanks I will be reinstalling the intake today after some head work and the cap and will give it a shot. With a little luck I will get the cap on right and be able try your suggestion.

Also have not found a head bolt tightening sequence in the engine service manual for the 5 litre motor. 3.0 yes, 4.3 yes, 5.0 no?? Not sure if I missed it or what. OMC factory manual for engine service, yet no head bolt sequence diagram.

Is this a 5.0l Ford, or a 5.0l Chevy,..??

Ford, or Chevy,... The cylinders are #ed from the Front of the motor to the Back....

That's my feeble attempt at drawing a distributer cap.

The cylinder numbers are stamped on the intake, otherwise I would be asking for those to.

BUt you may be using the 351 firing order on a 302

If his engine is a 90 Ford and newer 302 HO or MPI, the firing order is like the 351. That is why I was wanting him to post a year and confirm it's a Ford

It is a 93 Ford. Thanks for the pic it will be a big help.

Got the head and intake installed today before the rains started. Will try and get it finished this week.
