OMC 5.0L petcock replacement question

Quick question for you guys... One of my petcock drains on the motor ('93 OMC 5.0L Ford) is leaking and I want to replace it. It has somewhat of a drain in the middle of the brass nut that is not present so the water all drains into the bilge every time. Looking online for a replacement I have found that they are quite pricey (Around $15). Is there a suitable alternative at the local hardware store or do I have to bite the bullet?

Ayuh,.... Just go get a plain ole simple brass pipe plug, 'n 1/4" pipe... They're 'bout a Buck each...
