1989 OMC 5.0L rebuilt engine, new head gasket, complete overhaul by experienced boat mechanic, but water still getting in oil. How?
Impellers were replaced and working.
Engine sounds good, runs good, but when put in lake mixes water in the oil. There is no water or oil in the bilge. Engine oil looks like honey.

Time to pressure check the manafolds and risers.

Thanks Trent.
This engine has flapper valves and we did have to quick reverse prior to any problems. The flapper valves have been replaced and functioning. So, we're back to testing everything again. Will let you know how the pressure tests read. Thanks

The worst thing would be a cracked head or block, happens in the winter if there is any water in the engine... hope that is not the problem,,,,,,

Thanks Flashback, we hope that is not the problem too. No cracks have been found so far and the boat was operating prior to running aground. We're wondering if we had an overheat when we ran aground and are checking for internal cracks as well as the external cracks you mentioned.
