omc 5/16 hose??

I have a 1987 omc 3.0, was wondering what the 5/16 hose is for that comes out of the bell housing that goes to nothing it just lays in the bilge??

Drain hose.

what kind of drain because there is no drain valve around the hose, it just goes in the bell housing flush, doesnt seem to connect to a nipple.

It's a weird look thing isn't it? I believe it is so water doesn't sit in there.. Rather it drains to the bilge..

Ayuh,... It drains water out of what's supposed to be a Dry cavity...
