You didn't know what need to be moved ? the diagram above is for the oval port 56 cu in engines from late 92 onwards, all three of them the 50hp 60hp and 70hp.
these hole to be drill is done once the cover is off and the hole is to be drilled into the block but just through the outer wall.
on these engines it seems the middle cylinder never got enough cooling at a certain area. by this drilling the water gets around the back of the middle cylinder better.
I presume it was something bad in the lost foam castings from which these blocks came from.
older 56 bridgeports were mainly sandcast blocks and not affected..
there is and was a lot of confusion of the oval port and Bridgeport blocks, especially as look almost the same on the outside apart from a few minor things, .
lots of parts I think were just used up at the factory, as I have 2 x 1995 60hp evinrude's,
now going by the serial numbers is strange because the newer engine (later serial number ) hass a few older parts than the older engine !!! yes very weird.
I think it depended on what parts bins they worked from on the day.
