Ok, Im about ready to stick oars on this thing and start rowing. This issue is just an added headache in my on going project.

I was takeing the outdrive off for further adgustment on the lower after replacing clutch and gears. When I pulled the cable through the little hole the end ripped right off, the rubber was starting to rip a bit, and I finished it off.

My questions is. Does anyone know where I might be able to find a lower shift cable for a OMC 800 mechanical shift? I have tryed a few online dealers and they have told me that those cables are on backorder till next season or so. I would like to find someone who has one in stock. Or a good used one or something. Anyone got any tips, secrets, ideas??

I would not put a used one on it.

You may want to give Ebasicpower a call....

eBay... They are on there often.

You may be ahead to buy a trashed drive and rob the cable. The cable on the 800 is not a critical problem like a Cobra.

Word of advise (I know, too late) You really need two people to handle that cable (one push and one pull) and some silicon spray on the jacket of the cable.

Yeah I have looked at sterndrive.infi.com, they are on backorder there till next season.

Funny thing is KaGee. I did have 2 people. I was lifting, and my wife was pulling the cable. The cable stuck up a little and she gave it a yank before I could say no.....
