I did some out drive work, after reinstallation the shifting is out or whack. I have not started the boat and checked it but have shifted it from the engine shift control box, the over stroke switch doesn't come close to contacting the plastic cam in full forward or reverse. I am curious, what does the over stroke switch do? How's it work? Does the interrupter kick in when you begin to shift into gear and the over stroke switch shut it off? I have a manual to reset everything, any tips would be appreciated. Is there an easy way to find "nominal neutral"?

The overstroke switch overides the interrupt switch.

The interrupt switch will activate with any movement of the shift cable. The overstroke switch activates shortly after the shift cable travels forward or reverse to prevent the ESA from activating while in gear. That's why it's important to have the shift module adjusted properly for neutral center.
Your manual should have a section on that.
