h**p://www.sterndrive.info/omc_parts_drawing_upper_stern_drive.html

replace ** with tt and you have a link to an exploded view of your upper housing.

The drive has to be removed too.

The impeller is in the upper gearcase and must be seperated from the lower to access it. I'm just doing mine and I toyed with the idea of doing it without pulling the outdrive, but ended up pulling it. Turned out to be a good choice as it made it easier to deal with seized bolts, etc. Only took about 20 min to get the drive off. Get one of those 'workmate' vice/tables to hold the drive. Works great!

Actually, it was our kitchen last summer! :D

It's a carport behind my garage. We reno'd the house last yr. and were sleeping in tents in the back yard. That carport had the fridge, freezers, a 2 burner propane stove, kitchen table and a couple of dressers.

If you have an engine hanging from a tree in your yard.............................:D:D:D

Re: omc 800 water pump replacement

I've pulled the lower from the outdrive, but not the upper from the boat. After pulling the lower, the center gear has four bolts in it. Can I access the impeller by removing the four bolts from the bottom of the upper gear? I don't want to try to pull that gear if I'm going to create a mess. I have the original OMC service manual, but it has little or no info in it.

Thanks!
