OMC Army Surplus Motor

I recently purchased an OMC Army 40 hp outboard (on e bay). I took it out yesterday and it runs great. It is Model AM40A, Serial #E5559459. I think it is about 20-25 years old. <br /><br />Two questions: I would like to repaint to civilian colors. Did OMC produce a civilian model this year? How do I find the paint color number, scheme and decals?<br /><br />Question #2: Was there a starter made for this motor?

Welcome to IBoats, calndrman!<br /><br />The only information I could find on your outboard is here.<br /><br />There were Johnson/Evinrude 40hp outboards made I think every year since 1960. Once you find the 40hp that is similair to yours (probably a 1981 model) you can get a starter for it. You may be looking for a remote choke as well.<br /><br />Hope some of this helps!
