OMC ball gear pre -1973

I just replaced my upper gear housing with a pre 73 OMC electric shift and the ball gear is worn... and all the stores i find only have the post 73 ball gear and it looks different where it goes on shaft... anyone know who sells the older ball gears? or could I just flip over the worn one since motor only turns 1 way? <br /><br />if it will work flipped that is.

Had one of these once & if memory serves correctly, you can get parts at NAPA...ask to see their Sierra catalog.
