Ive read that the sixties style OMC outboard controls are like jigsaw puzzles, can be turned this way and that, according to what way you want to have them configured, left or right ... anyway, it occurred to me that two sets could possibly be put together to make a dual binnacle, sorta like the one that OMC put out in 1961 -

this sound like a feasible idea?

Re: OMC binnacle outboard controls

You mean back to back... I've got a set here in my hands (they are reversible, btw). The only thing I see being a problem is the throttle friction knob is not reversible, so one would be ahead of the throttle (port) and one would be behind (starboard). It's just a looks thing, and I don't know if it would look that bad...
Also, the idle stop does switch sides (it needs to) so that wouldn't be a problem..

Get some chromed skulls for the shifters. :)

One other thing - they're held together by 4 wood screws that go through the two chambers (shift & throttle) into a piece of plywood on the side of the boat or whatever. If your thinking of mounting them on top of a console, you'll need nuts and bolts , and some way of holding them on to it!
