I just posted about my OMC Cobra 230 | 5.0V cracked block and heating issues. I also just noticed this...I'm not sure what this is...but it appears to have something to do with water cooling the engine?!?

First, I noticed it's not securely attached to the engine. Next, I noticed that the hose circled in red at the bottom is "inserted" into this thing...instead of what "around" it. It seemed to work the first time I started the engine...but the next time I noticed a bunch of water coming out of this thing at the bottom hose...so I shut everything down. I figure I need to at least find a hose connection to make that a better fit...and secure it to the engine. Thoughts?

Could this be the reason the engine was running hot at 5 min? (...not necessarily the cracked block / JB weld issue?)

Howdy,

Your picture didn't post.

If this is the hose from the transom mount to the T-stat housing, and you have water spewing out of it, then water is not going to the engine of flow is severely reduced and would absolutely have something to do with an overheat.....

that's your power steering cooler and it doesn't even look to be hooked up. can't really see too well. All seawater normally passes through that before it goes to the engine. You want to figure all this out (factory manual) before running the engine, it may be getting no water.

Photobucket or other photo hosting site better than trying to post pics at what's left of this forum.
