Hello everyone,
I first want to thank anyone who can help with this question.
I have a 4.3 #10172756 block I found a #10105867 block/complete engine without exhaust manifolds. My question is are the exhaust manifolds/intake ect. interchangeable?

Thanks

A GM 4.3 is a GM 4.3
They will interchange

Edit: exhaust only

is that the casting number (back by the bellhousing) or the GM serial # (up on the front right hand side of the block?
You go by casting numbers for the identification of changes in the engine series, the serial number won't really help figure that out. There were a lot of changes in the 4.3, a few major ones:
1. 2 piece vs 1 piece main seal
2. flat tappet vs roller cam
3. non balance shaft vs balance shaft
4. pre-vortec vs vortec heads
5. V belt vs serpentine pulley set up
6. different timing chain cover
so yes they will interchange but an early block with the 2 piece main seal might not work with the coupler you have if your present engine is a 1 piece, and the pulleys would have to be changed if your set up is different than the new engine.
the other changes, roller cam, pre vs vortec heads, don't really affect installation details

Thanks Lou, my bad and should have paid more attention

I noticed exhaust manifold and stopped right there. Didn't notice it was about the entire motor.

more info on casting #s and changes....

as far as manifolds....
all 4.3 blocks use the same exhaust manifolds, but the intakes are different for the pre Vortec (12 bolt) vs the Vortec (8 bolt). The change over happened about 1996 or so.
if you have an older OMC 4.3 with the one piece exhaust manifolds (1985-1990) and need to replace them, since they are NLA, there are a few options, I think GLM had a kit to adapt their 2 piece manifold/elbow units to the original OMC Y pipe. Since OMC changed to the 2 piece system in '91 I think (and same parts were used by Volvo Penta from '94 all the way to the cat converter models) you can:
Buy a set of Barr Marine aftermarket manifolds/elbows
Buy the needed hoses and 90* down pipes from V/P (OMC and V/P used the same exact parts but OMC doesn't sell them any longer) and it will fit just like factory. I did this conversion on my 1988 4.3 a few years ago.
I went this route instead of the GLM kit because I had heard of problems with the GLM stuff, but it could have improved over the years. The GLM kit is cheaper than using the Barr Marine kit + the V/P parts.winterize 015.JPG
1985-1990 one piece exhaust manifolds

Later style 2 piece exhaust (Barr Marine manifolds/elbows & V/P hoses and down pipes)

welcome aboard.

Here is some light reading

For 1987 there were several different castings used, including the 10105867, 10172756, 14099073, 14093683 and 10066011 with the two-bolt retainer, and the 10172756, 14099073 and 10066061 blocks with the four-bolt retainer.

you have a 1987 looks like the one you found is a 1987 or 1988 as well
