Hey, sorry to go over a topic but evreybody else seems to have the tilt trim ago up but not down, Mine was working fine and now will not liff outdrive, hit the lower switch and the engine runs normally and will drop the outdrive. I've cleaned every fuse i can find. I'm down to guessing solenoid? I will surmise that no click means bad switch or solenoid. which one is it...any clue? It's an 88 four winns 4.3 ltr 21 foot cuddy. all other systems run perfectly.
should i see draw on the volt meter in the dash if it's hitting the solenoid and not working?Or..if I get no droop in voltage meter, is it indicative of a switch. this model has the trim in the shift handle with rubber boot over the switches.
thanks
Jim

In my experience the solenoid will click when not working properly. If you have no click i would think it to be the switch or a bad connection before the solenoid. It is also important to have a well charged battery so you hit the solenoids hard and no arcing takes place, this will burn up the contacts.

Thanks for the answer...i have a new battery that is a real butt kicker. I also checked the battery connections becasue i have died that embarrassing death recently where i didn't have a good connection. I'll check the connections on the solenoids and see if i get a "clicker" or not. I've got the manuals, but of course it does not tell you which solenoid is the up or down on the engine position, only in a ladder diagram. Anybody know which solenoid is the normal cobra up drive? one is mounted front of the fuses bow side and the other is behind the fuses transom side..I'd like to get a feel for which one is which before going into that birdsnest of wires and clips...
Thanks
jim
