Specs: 1994 Four Winns Sundowner
Engine: 5.0 Cobra ... Model 502ACPMDA
Outdrive Model: 3 (I think it's a 3) 868076
347 Hours

History:

Bought the boat last summer, it has always ran wonderfully. Winterized by a local marina, and started with no issues this spring.

About the 3rd time out (late May), we'd been running it all day, off and on. When we were pulling into the dock after a 'long' idle zone (probably 10 minutes), it just 'cut off'. Fortunately we had just got to the dock, and after pumping it it finally got going. Honestly, I thought I had just run out of gas, didn't think anything of it.

Here's the issue.

On occasion, usually at the end of a long day, while the Admiral is loitering around after she's dropped me off at the docks to get the trailer, it'll just 'die'. It'll stumble a bit, and poof, done. She can get it going again, but it's a pain in the ars.

Anti-siphon valve seems good, I've ran a can of carb cleaner through it, some 'high octane (93) gas', and just little stuff. It's more of an inconvenience now than anything.

Have not gone down the road of rebuilding carb, or anything, would rather start with the simple stuff and work my way up.

Any thing jump out?

Thanks in Advance.

Hey, I'm in Indy too! Have you done the ignition since you got it? Plugs, distributor cap and rotor? I just did mine and fixed my idle woes. If you end up needing a carb, go to Van's on Kentucky Ave, I did. Try to verify if you have actual marine ignition wires by looking in the end of one and pulling the boot back a little to see. You should see a wire, not a carbonized filliament. Solid core carry a hotter spark; no radio interference issues on the water, (or on motorcycles)!
