OMC Cobra 987797 vs. 985689 Are they Compatible?

I have a 1989 Bayliner 2455 with an OMC Cobra Outdrive Serial Number T0729344 and Model Number 987797. The Ratio is 1.42. The Engine is a 5.8L Ford Windsor 351. Can I put another Cobra Outdrive on it which has a Serial Number of T0640387 and Model Number 985689 with a 1.41 Ratio for a 5.7L engine? Thanks in advance for the help.

Sorry I don't know the answer, but 1.42 vs 1.41 those are so close I can't see it making a bit of difference. I also have a 5.8 1990. By the way how do the HP rating compare between the 5.7 vs 5.8?

It'll bolt right up , and you'll never know the difference as long as the 5.7 drive isn't a King Cobra , and they both rotate the same direction!
