Omc Cobra Bellows

Hello all! This is my first post after hours of lurking around reading tons of useful and informative info. I should start by saying I have an 87 thundercraft regency(which was a steal, more or less free), with a Ford 2.3 and the omc cobra outdrive. I can't say it was full of problems but was very neglected so I am fixing things little by little. It runs good and shifts great, but since the boat is almost 30 years old, of course seals go bad.

I removed my outdrive after I winterized it so I could inspect the bellows and noticed the exhaust bellow is cracked and the u-joint bellow is full of grease(which is good)and or gear oil I think. It's really thick though, like I scoop it in globs. I will attach pics of both the bellow and the input yoke. I was thinking the oil seal by the input yoke has gone bad, but I am new to boats so maybe it is just grease. If it is just grease, I am going to replace all the bellows just so they're new and done, but if it's gear oil, when I replace the oil deal do I need to replace the input yoke as well?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Justin

Grease fitting on the side of the transom mount.
It feeds into the gimbal bearing.
Like Bondo says the extra grease is from the PO doing his job.

The Ford 2.3 was only used a short time.
Therefore the parts are scarce or non-existent !
Double check the manifold before you dump a bunch of $$$ into the motor.

The new manifold is rare and if you could find one they are usually expensive.
Saw one on e-bay for $1000 a while ago.
Some are cheaper?Used starts at $300+
