Re: omc cobra help!!!

The pulley on the crankshaft is what turns the altenator pulley and waterpump pulley. The crankshaft pulley won't spin free, it will start turning once the engine is running. Replace the belt(or have it replaced). The "small leak from the exhaust water hose" should be addressed immediatly. The waterpump in your motor compartment is not the impeller, the impeller is located in the sterndrive. The waterpump is a circulating pump.

I think if it is a 95 it has the impeller on the engine, not back in the upper unit like the earlier Cobras. You might want to have the mech replace the belts and run it on a water hose to make sure it gets enough circulating water and then try it in the water.

Re: omc cobra help!!!

Whey OMC redesigned it for 94, it was made under the joint venture arrangement with Volvo Penta so the OMC Cobra got basically the same system as the Volvo SX Cobra (shifting in the upper unit, engine mounted impeller). Probably less trouble overall that the older 86-93 ones, and all the parts are shared with the Volvo,so you can get it serviced in a Volvo shop.
