91 4.3L OMC cobra, has been running fine for past few weeks. I noticed today when I went to "gun it" to pull up a skier the motor immediately died. I was able to re-start without issue but it died again when I tried to "gun it" a 2nd time. I tried increasing the throttle faster than normal but not "gunning it" and it was fine. So the boat is fine with slow to moderate increase of the throttle but when it is gunned it stalls immediately. My first thoughts are carb or shift controller. What do you guys think?

Carb either needs adjusting or rebuilt.

I know this is old thread, not sure if answer solved issue, but had same problem this weekend. Turned out to be electrical, measured 4V at the coil. Once I jumped to ignition switch, boat ran fine. My "stumbling" shift module appears to be intermittant also, I plan on tearing into electrial this weekend...
