I have an 88 23' chaparral. Bought it without the engine long block. All the parts were with it. I assembled and reinstalled. Shifted like crap from the start. All ESA functions work. Traced it to a crappy transom shift cable. I thought..
What i need to know is what angle does the transom shift cable enter the boat from the rear. I had no reference because the engine was out. I susPect the rubber hose the shift cable travels through is incorrectly routed. Mine at present is sanwiched at an upward angle over the exhaust y-pipe and under the rear engIne plate.
Plese someone tell me how this hose should route. At this point i see no way to make it work unless i pull engine out again and run the hose under the exhaust.
Is this correct?
