omc electic shift

i was wondering if i have the electric shift assist on my 89 king cobra drive? or how can i tel if i do? thanks

You have one of the 3 possible King Cobras that OMC lays claim to. But yours does have the ESA module. Same as a regular Cobra.

so it does? i put some mercury high proformance gear lube in it, but i noticed it said on the back " do not use in omc electric shift". i did not run it yet with it in but i suppose i should drain it, right? if so what kinda gear lube can i run in it?

You are mixing your drive up with the old OMC electric shift stringer drive. It used a lighter lubricant in the lower unit. That is what is being referred to.

iknow THAT, i was just taking out of quote , Do not use in elctric shft assist drive" is that better?
