I have a 1966 Electric Shift Stringer mounted to 155hp Buick V6. This is on my 1967 Larson Volero. The water pump shaft stripped in the upper housing and when I pulled it out I saw a most unusual seal assembly. On the shaft is a circlip groove for a circlip then a spring and at the end of the spring a collar that slides over the shaft splines. I am assuming that the pressure of the spring is supposed to keep water from entering the shaft splined area where it mates to the pinion shaft. I have no idea what this thing is called (the collar seal) and I desperately need another one as the spline grooves have much wear. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
(What is this thing called?)

I think there is a difference if you have a high or low profile drive, by the looks of the shaft, it might be a high profile drive. Post a pic of the whole drive to confirm.

It is definitely a high profile. I just need to know the name of the part (the collar seal type thing) Even a part number. How come I don't see this thing in any of the exploded view pictures? is it because it is pre-1968? I don't even know how to search for this thing without knowing the proper part name. Any help, grrreeeaaaatly appreciated.

This is an old string but what the heck....it's called a waterpump "driveshaft". The '65 part number is 310211 and is likely the same as yours.
