Re: OMC Engine Swap

What year is the engine/boat? I have a feeling it's either a GM or Ford I4.

That would be a General Motors 3.0L, year 1990.
140 HP, 4 cylinder. Where is Southend-on-sea? Sounds intriguing?

Hi Ben thanks for yor info.Good job you are out there as knowone else has replied. The Engine is siezed it brought the guy back last time it was used.Wouldnt start after being left for around 8 weeks.Cant seem to break the seal insitu so its got to come out and head off even so I really want a diesel maybe a Ford Transiy lump wont get the speed but it will quarter the cost of running in this country
Southend-on-sea is situated at the mouth of the river Thames[Seaside Holiday resort Best Regard Roger

Re: OMC Engine Swap

Ho Roger; My wife and I have been contemplating a trip to Europe and have somewhat settled on a Rhine River tour of castles, Germany, obviously. I suspected you were in Great Britain and your location sounded romantic. I'm going to look it up on the map and see what I can find out. Yes, that engine is used quite a bit in the commercial venue and is somewhat popular in marine applications, being a workhorse. I think you're correct in going the way of a diesel and one can be surprised with the RPM's available. If I can help you locate parts, blocks, anything else, my e-mail address is bhamil2345@cox.net. Please don't hesitate to write.

Re: OMC Engine Swap

I have an answer for you; I'm also going to e-mail this info to you.
2.5L Water-Intercooled Turbo (WLT) like the one in the Everest, is manufactured by Detroit Diesel's subsidiary "Motori"
in Cento, Italy. 4 cylinder, in-line 16 valve, electronic fuel injection. Turbocharged, intercooled. 145 HP at 2000RPM
and peak torque of 251 ft. lbs., at 1800 RPM. Cast iron block with one-piece aluminum head. 21" long, 25" wide and 27"
high. 485 LBS. Purely automotive and the low RPM's wouldn't give much speed but it sounds like a durable engine.

3.0L GM engine, for marine use; in-line 4 cylinder 145 HP, 181CID 4300-4600 RPM, direct replacement for 2.5L gas engine and 3.0L gas. approximately 500 LBS. Always available
