hello all, i am writing this thread as to which i am trying to locate a 1975 inline 6 exhaust manifold elbow(omc), apprently this part is no longer made, therefore it would have to be used, i am attempting to refurb an old 1975 thunderbird 19c which i inherited, seems like a real nice trihull and worth the effort, but as usual, with old boats there always a lot to fix, i also posted a thread in regards to tilt and trim relays which i havent figured out yet, still in need of a manual, anyways any information and help is greatly appreciated and if you happen to know or have the part pls. let me know as i am dying to see if i could start this motor. thank you

Re: omc exhaust manifold elbow

If the elbows are no longer available then I would keep an eye out on ebay for used 6 cyl exhaust components. There were certainly plenty of those 6 cyl's made and I do not think that the OMC's were as hard on their elbows as Mercs were. I am still running the same elbows on my '75 302. Mine have had minimal salt water use, however.

What was it that you needed to know about the tilt system? Did you also have the optional trim?

...oh, and btw, get ready for a lot of flack about tinkering with OMC's

Call jerry's marine supply. They sell new stuff made by Barr and Osco etc. that should fit it.

I would test a lot of things before I ordered the manifold parts. you can run it dry for a minute to see how the engine is. Just keep the pump wet.

Re: omc exhaust manifold elbow

hi boomyal and lyle, will check on ebay for manifold elbow, the problem i was having with the tilt and trim was neither one was working, im not sure if i have the optional optimal tilt and trim, i just think its a weird system, but the previous owner for some reason cut the purple wire on the toggles for both trim and tilt, so it leads me to believe either the motors stop working or he rigged it up another way, today i spliced the two toggles together to a 12v wire coming off one of the fuse, verified 12v at the purple connector was able to get a click from one of the relays(solonoid), but i didnt get any measurable voltage on the switch bolt and none on the output of the solonoid. so back to checking what i am doing wrong. thanks for your inputs
