I have a 1976 21' Bell Boy powered by OMC, on the rocker covers it has omc 175, it looks like a ford small block 302. MOD#990229a11 / SER#w493237. By the way it is a V8. next question, if it is a ford motor motor will a 351C takes its place with out a ton of work. another thing that I noticed is it has two firing orders, it says for 175HP its 15426378 and for 190HP its
13726548. if anyone can help with these questions
that would be great. Thanks for your time.
Mike

I don't do much with Fords, But I do know that a 351C will Not Fit in place of a Windsor... The 302,+ the 351W Will interchange......

not too sure about the inboards, but a 289/302/351W and the 351C have the same bolt patterns. and in a passenger vehicle you can swap them out- with the proper exaust system changes.

Boxdr,

If the distributor is on the front of the engine, it's a Ford. Rear-GM.

Re: OMC! Ford Motor or not?

Hi.. You definately have a ford there... The fireing orders give it away...The 289 and 302 Windsor engines are basicly one in the same....

The 351 Windsor is almost the same as the 289-302 with two major exception.. The 351W's intake manifold is different (larger) than the 289-302 because the block's deck height is taller on the 351W, making the area the intake manifold wider...

The other difference is the distributor on the 351W is just slightly longer because again the block's deck height is taller... I'm not absolutely sure here, but I think you can use the 302W distributor in a 351W but you will have to get a different drive gear for the distributor to allow for the difference... Might want to check that out with a Ford auto dealership.. ;)

Otherwise most brackets like the alternator bracket, ect., exhaust, and other accessories are the same and will probably bolt up without too much trouble...

The 351C (Cleavland) is a totally different animal all together... Valve covers, intake and exhaust manifolds, distributor, and accessory brackets are not interchangable with the 289-302-351W...
