I have a 1957 Sea King 12hp (GG8971B) and I'm rebuilding the fuel pump. Everything in the pump looks like it's in great shape with one exception. One of the plastic discs (OMC 303643) that combines with a spring to make a check valve is ruined. I tried to make a new one, but I can't find a suitable material. I went online to track one down, but all I could find was OMC 305654. The discs I have are just little round ones, but this other part has a cross on both sides of the disc. It appears one is to align it with the spring and the other to align it with the valve housing. (I kept wondering what kept mine in line, other the gasket between the halves of the housing.) Anyway, I can't find anywhere that gives a dimension to see if these new discs will fit with my pump or not. I realize that there are a few replacement pumps out there and I might end up going that route, but I'd like to try and keep as many original parts on this motor as I can. So if anyone has any input on whether or not these other discs might fit my fuel pump I would really appreciate it. Thanks a lot.

Haven't got a clue. Just exactly where is the normal location the 305654 is used? Anyhow, the correct vakve disc must be flat on at least one side, and can't interfere with the spring on the other side.

I'm not sure about the 305654's normal location. It was just listed as a check valve. It looked as though the crosses on either side would fit into the spring and into the housing, but I'm not sure. Would you happen to know of any material that I could manufacture one from? I've tried a couple of different materials, but they just swell from the gasoline.

Not doubting your statement that yours are plastic, it seems to be recorded in my hazy memory that at one time they were thin metal. A coke can comes to mind, but I doubt you can get it flat enough.

I have a 1961 5 HP Sea King and yours sounds exactly like what mine looks like. I just took mine apart last week and almost lost one of those platic disc. I researched getting a new diaphragm for mine and it turns out there was a whole new Fuel Pump made so any parts for these are obsolete. The new ones I believe are part # 18-7350. Pumps look way different but they are supposed to blot right up. I will be ordering one as soon as I figure out where the gear oil leak is coming from now :(
