They're back by the carb, and I believe there's a couple located in the harness, too. Do you have an engine/drive service manual? If not, they are available on eBay and there's also a Seloc downloadable one in the ADULTS ONLY sticky in this forum.
It might also help if you described the problem you're dealing with. We might be able to help further.
I have a 1989 four winn 4.3 and originally i took the old depth finder out to install a new one. Took it to the lake and it would not start. Since it was fine until i removed the old depth finder. Tried to hook the old one back up and unfortunately i let my son unhook the thing and hedoes not remember where the wires go back. Tried myself with no luck only blowing some fuses in the panel under the dash. Replaced those and still no luck. My manuel for this year shows a different ignition than whats on mine. Long story short i took it to a mechanic yesterday who has spent two hours to hook up this thing and now says the boat still doesnt start. Wants to check the starter thinks the starter is bad. I understand there is a fuse on top of the motor but again my manual does not show this fuse. Just wandering if it would likely be a fuse somewhere else than under the panel. They all look fine. Im out 200 with this guy already. The boat started fine prior to my unhooking this darn depth finder.
Look just behind the shift linkage on the top of the motor, starboard side.
There should be 2 rubber plug looking boots in the wiring just behind the trim solenoids. There is a 50 amp fuse inside those black rubber boots.2 total.
They are usually held in place by a wire clip that wraps around the boot.
If the fuses were bad the starter would not click. If it ran fine before, then the starter is probably not the problem. You need to go back to square one & check all the wiring.
