SOOO... nobody knows...... or nobody cares.........
I realize the service manual calls for OMC Hi-Vis gear lubracant, But I can't find any around here. Don't even know if it is still made. Is there another type. Will the merc oil or outboard leg oil work?

Hi Vis is still made, another option is the Mercury Hi Performance gear lube. It's a blue green to green in color. Any Merc dealer, or even Wally world carries it.

BLC, I have a 86 Cobra and do run the Merc Hi performance in it has the yellow lable on it. It is what you should run anyway you can find every where even wally world and Napa the Hi vis cannot find every where. Drain and refill with the merc oil and you will be good to go just make sure you add in the right way....

I run 90W Royal Purple in my drive, great stuff, but I do believe that you can run any GL-5 gear oil in the unit.
