I don't know for sure, but i do know that evinrude, johnson, and omc were at one time the same company or at least used the same parts. At least thats the way it was explained to me.
OMC was the accessories brand (in addition to the name of the parent company) for Evinrude and Johnson. By the 1990s the controls weren't branded "Evinrude" and "Johnson", rather they were OMC.
And no, your motor is not electric shift. That went by the wayside in the early 1970s...
here is the control unit that came with the motor.
I only see one arm... unlike the other motor I have were
it has 2 arms one for Forward.. and one for Reverse.
Please tell me how this changes from Forward and Reverse.
when u move the lever forward it will shift in to forward gear same for reverse you pull it all the way back....we are in the modern times now...lol.....you will be fine....just get the right controller to motor harness is all....
thanks..
THATS were I am really not happy and one of the reasons that I got this
motor so cheap... the harness... well the harness has been CUT....
HACKED.. well you call it what you will the owner just cut all the wires so
he could get the harness out of his boat... I have the pieces its just going to take a lot of time to SOLDIER all the wires back
THANK GOD they are Color CODED... lol
well I AM STILL CONFUSED......... when I push the one stick forward
it controls the shift... but does it control the Throttle at the same time?
If so I am thinking about putting on a HOT FOOT.... I could control the
throttle with the pedal and the shift with the stick... if it will work...
PLEASE EDUCATE ME .... let me know.... thanks again
Ron
Yes, when you push the lever forward a couple of inches it shifts the engine into forward and the rest of the travel in the lever is throttle, same in reverse.
