Lower end got a crack cuz some dumbass didn't winterize it but it's still engages in gear and everything

Seeing that huge hole and rubber seal, it's a Stringer drive.

It be a 78 or newer.-----Not electric shift.-----Smaller ones were " 400 " models with gearcase similar to V-4 outboards.-----Larger ones were the " 800 " models with gearcase similar to a V-6 outboard.----So what HP or engine is in the boat ?

If you have a 4 cylinder, its a stringer 400.
If you have a V6 or V8, its a stringer 800

You are risking damaging that $950 shift cable.

I put a couple bolts back in the cable I just got to figure out how to get it off so I can get it welded

Cable disconnects up at the top / rear of the motor.----Post picture of cracked area.----Recommend inspection for rust damage if water was in there and exposed to oxygen !!

Time for a full tear down and inspection I say.

It was shrink wrapped and sitting around 2 years

??----It appears to me that this crack is due to water in the gearcase or a passage way..----It froze and cracked the case.----Pressure test this gearcase.-----If it fails you need to take it apart for inspection.-----I assume you just bought this boat.
