We have a leak in the intake manifold and the previous owner used liquid gasket as the gasket for it.does a actaul gasket exist or is liquid gasket excepted practice?. if there is a actual gasket is it OMC specific or is it a GM one as they make the block and intake manifold?. what are the torque specs on the intake manifold bolts that hold it to the block.

thanks for help in advance

I guess all the answers are going to require knowing what engine you have and what year that engine is and where the leak is. Oh yea, are you leaking oil or air or ????

Re: omc intake manifold

The use of a liquid sealer is an acceptable practice if used between the intake and block {front and rear intake seal}. Liquid sealer here would indicate disambly in the past. Liquid sealer is preferred by most techs because the rubber gaskets that come in the gasket sets usually leak or blow out. Possible cause for leak:
1 crankcase pressure to high ie, worn rings, improper crankcase ventalation
2 corrosion
3 wrong type of liquid sealer
4 not enough sealer
5 surfaceing of heads, block deck, or intake will reduce space for original rubber seals
For these reasons liquid sealer is perferred it will hold best when applied correctly.
