Re: OMC/ Johnson lifting eye part
Per the fatory service manual for my outboard (2000 Evinrude 225 HP), the reccomended way to lift the motor for mounting onto the transom is with a picking eye bolted to the flywheel. I wouldn't pick from the flywheel when the motor when is laying down. These motors are not that heavy, about 500 lbs. Two guys can fairly easily stand the motor upright, and then use the picking eye to lift the motor into place.
