I have a Chris Craft with an OMC 454 King Cobra (1993) and it has alot of play in the steering when I am going slow. It makes it difficult to drive because I am constantly over-compensating and I end up "snaking" down the lake when I am going slow.

What is usually the problem when there is excessive play in the steering of a King Cobra? Is it an expensive fix?

pepin,
i'm not an expert on this...but its a common problem with the trim up and low rpms. if the h20 depth isn't that shallow....try putting the lower unit down a bit to gain steering control.

That makes sense because it only happens when I have the drive trimmed up in shallow water. Thanks :)
