I have an omc Stern drive. I’m changing the oil in lower and upper unit. I have been told to use 80w-90 in the upper and 10w-30 in the lower by someone who has worked on omc for over 30 years.

first, welcome aboard

second, without knowing what OMC drive you have, we can not answer.

having a specific year, serial number and model number helps.

on the stringer drives, there are electric shift, hydro-mechanical shift and pure mechanical shift

then there are the Cobra drives

and later are the SX joint venture drives.

I can’t find any serial number on it or model number. The boat is 1984. I only bought it a few months ago. It’s grey colour leg. It’s not a cobra.

OMC stringer. either a stinger 400 (with the 3.0) or a stringer 800 (with the V6 and V8s)
