Re: OMC Manual Lift
It's not too hard. I assume the drive is all the way down? Take a 9/16" socket with a u-joint and a long extention and unbolt the "quarter-moon" gear on the left side of the out drive. It's easy to find, look for the exposed gear teeth that engage a bronze pinion that sticks out of the tilt gear box. There are 3 bolts. When the bolts are out you can grab the outdrive and tilt it up by hand (It's heavy, be careful) and secure it with rope or a block of some sort. The gear will fall out when you tilt the drive up, don't forget to pick it up!

If the drive does not swing up freely, you probably need to lube the pivot bearings; Pry off the rubber bumpers on the left and right side of the intermediate housing - be careful, they can be broken. Go slow and you will be fine. This will expose the 2 bolt heads that the bumpers snap onto (what a crazy way to do it, but it works) and a zerc grease fitting (might have a plastic cap on the fitting). Put 5 or 10 shots of marine grease in and work the drive up and down 5 or 10 times, it should swing easier. Good workout too.

Good luck!
Tom
