Hi Ive got an 1989 omc cobra mated to a 5.7chevy The drive was recently rebuilt by a company theres a long story behind this but it was the second rebuild prior to the second rebuild and as now when you turn the wheel left/right it makes a grinding noise in the rear the motor runs perfect the tighter you turn the louder it gets,no I dont keep it there I try to limit the turning because of this and no something is wrong, after the last rebuild and were talking a few weeks I had a mechanic in northern ny put drive back on for me because of distance and time asked him to check alignment he said it was good and grease everything,I myself and him greased and checked the gimble and it was good,,after a call to him today he thinks u-joints they were supposed to be new looked new and were grease as well.Called the rebuilder and there sending me a u-joint kit and impellor which was bad, also after this book what do you guys think the noise is?Id be glad to pay the guy who hits it on the head I just want the noise to go away you no Ive put alot of time into this and am very picky about my boat but dont like being nervous driving it thanks guys....Any further info needed please let me no thank you for your help :(

Sorry for your troubles, I'm sure your agrivated after putting all that work into your boat and still having problems.

To me it sounds like U-joints because it's making noise when turning.

Good Luck and let us know what it turns out to be

Steve
