Ok,

Sorry but I don't have the serial# with me right now, but I was wanting to know if anyone has ever replaced the speed coils in the lower unit of one of these bad boys....

It a good little trolling motor, has a 12/24 switch on the foot pedal and three speed settings on the dial, also on the pedal.
My problem is I have lost both the low and medium speeds no matter if I'm running 12v or 24v. The high speed setting works fine however at any voltage... I have replaced the speed setting switch on the pedal and also the toggle "activator" switch but the same problem remains.. So it has to be the coils in the lower unit I assume, and based on an old marine tech I talked to...

I believe this is a 1986 motor... Worth repairing or should I dish out $600 for a new Motor Guide?

use to do motorguide and minnkota speed coils, but don't believe i've ever done an omc that i can remember, i've slept since i had the shop. replacing the brush block was bad enough. don't forget to replace the seals and bushings. torque the screws.

I just purchased a Motor Guide Maxum 65 thrust, 24V of course... I believe it is last year's model. Which is exactly like the 70lb thrust motors they are selling this year (I guess they had a disclaimer in the 65's that actually rated them at 70lbs)..

I think I got a good deal on it as I went through a friend of mine who owns a bait shop... Anyway it cost me $480... Brand new out of the box...

As long as he still has some in stock anyway...

was doing a warranty repair on one of the 50# motorguides a few years back and ordered in a complete motor unit, got it in and checked the slip and right part number but the discription said it was a 45#. called them to find out what was going on. i was told that the original motor was a 45# also and that the prop gives it the extra 5#. didn't want to argue, it wasn't going to get us anywhere, just rolled up my pants leg and shook it of my shoes and filed my claim. oh by the way it pull 45# exactly on the draw check.

Did you ever find someone to do the coils? I have a couple of these motors. I would just love to get one of them working 100%
