omc outdrive need help

hey gentlemen I need some help, I'm trying to install a new control cable on my boat, 1978 omc 185, with chev305 motors (its a twin) there is after market cables on it now with the adapters, but my new cable has the stock fittings on it, and I'm stump can you help???? I'm hoping someone has a pic of how it goes on, I have already tried the thread from teleflex, and they show the after market cables with adapters only, and only from 1979 & up any info will help...Tony and yes I know I should have a manual, and its on order, but not here yet
