Unbolt the trim rams at the lower drive, large nut on each side.
Remove the 6 nuts on the upper housing where it bolts to the transom assembly.
Give it a good yank! 2 people are the best but i have removed them by myself.
Inspect the bellows,u-joints,gimbal bearing and grease the shift cable bellcrank.

Hopefully the Seloc manual will get you by...they are not the greatest.

Re: omc outdrive removel

Buy the correct year of factory manual if you can get one. I see king cobra manuals on ebay all the time. They are fairly well written with lots of pictures and diagrams.

Read through it, then prepare by buying all the necessary lubes and gaskets. No sense doing it wrong. When I did mine for the first time I hunted down the part numbers of most of the lubes and gaskets and bought them online from a site that sell evinrude stuff. This way I was completly prepared.

I also built a lame 2 by 4 rack for the drive.. it wasn't perfect, but it held it upright while I did the work. My regular cobra was heavy enough, I would imagine the king is heavier.

To answer your question more directly, there is a gasket between the drive and gimble housing(correct term?) on the regular cobra. I'd imagine there is one on the King cobra.
