Hi guys. Just have a quick question and was wondering if someone could help me with.

I recently purchased a Four Winns bowrider with a '91 4.3L 6 cyl engine in it. I have run it a few time and everything seems to be working good.

When I had it out this weekend I saw the temp guage keeping up to around 175 to 190. This seems to hot to me. I have searched the threads and looked in my seloc manual buy have not been able to locate what the normal operating temperature should be.

Does anyone know what my normal temp should be and will it run warmer than that if i am using the boat harder (i.e. tubing, sking, etc.)

Thanks everyone in advance!

It should have about a 160 degree thermostat. seeing 175 is not uncommon but 190 would have me replacing the impeller the first chance i got.

Re: OMC overheating???

Hey Gary,

Thanks for the reply. My guess was the 175 wasn't too bad but when I saw 190 ish I pulled out of the channel and idled till the temp came back down to 150 and then continued on my way. It wasn't up there but for a few minutes. I did pick up a replacement impeller kit and plan on doing that before the next trip out.

Thanks again!
