I run a 93" OMC 5.7 Cobra 21ft. open bow boat. Seaswirl Spyder. I have a 15" X 17 Prop now. I am looking to increase bottom end pulling power slightly by getting a 14.75" X 16. SS Prop. My Question is by getting a slightly smaller prop dia. and one size smaller pitch is this going to be enough to get a difference in power? I know that I will loose top end speed and raise my MAx. rpm. Also What is better a H/D all purpose prop or a H/D High Rake Prop. Thanks.

Re: OMC Prop size Question.

going down a size will help the boat come on plane much faster

is the 15 x 17 prop your useing now the correct one

is WOT correct a 15 x 17 seams small for a 5.7 motor i use the same prop on a 3.0

i think everyone will have a different answer on the rake cuping thing it really depends on the boat who made the prop ect ect

tommays

Re: OMC Prop size Question.

If you want better bottom end with some stern lift, go for a four blade prop. They're especially good if you're sporting down around the planing speed, ie; tubes, wake and knee boards. Couldn't advise on the size, you'd be better off going with a vendor who will let you try and exchange.
